Home projects show and tell

A few projects I made for home. I'll update the thread periodically. Most of these are specific to products I have, so may not be useful to others…

Organizer for the bathroom hair stuff, plus a shelf for a heater.

Pot holder that attaches to my window on existing holes for a window lock I removed. The holder comes on and off quickly when the blinds need to be down.

Insulin holder for my dad. He's 90 and can't see the text on the needles anymore.

    image.png image.png image.png

These purple and pink ones are for a 10 year old family friend who's mother saw my dad's and wanted for her. I reworked the design to work with the insulin brand she has, and the colors/text she wanted.

My car was designed in the 90's, when the cupholders were super bad. Many people with this car buy something aftermarket. This is my take on it.

Desiccant bead holder for filament containers. I found a similar one online but it didn't have the cutout for the gauge or tabs to lift the lid off. It was in 3mf format so I couldn't do anything with it except spin it around on my screen. I modeled this one from scratch, making most of the features similar to what I found online. It prints right side up without any support, including the cutout for the gauge. Here is the Amazon link for the gauge: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09TY4CS35/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AFMRW02PTHTEX&psc=1

Thanks for sharing them! I love this idea as a general thread. That french cleat (or whatever you'd call that) on the window sill pot is great

I switched my dad to a new glucose meter that is phone based. The phone in normal mode is too difficult for him to use (he's 91 and has memory issues). I made a case for my old iPhone 12 Mini with only a singe button, and programmed the phone so that when that button is pressed, it shows his glucose level, and the button doesn't do anything else. All the other buttons are blocked.

Grooves added to the back for a non-slip surface. Text added as it doesn't function as a phone if anyone comes across it. Also for dad as he forgets what it is sometimes.

Fuzzy skin added to sides for better holding.

Button works on a living hinge.

Nick, I love this! I predict doing some similar work as my parents age. Might hit you up about it sometime
