Why won't my parts union?

I'm trying to combine these two parts using boolean:union but it's giving errors at this point. Before this error, it was giving errors where the edges of the light blue part is so I extruded those edges 1-2mm as I assumed the problem was a lack of overlap and that fixed the error, but this isn't resolving with the same approach.
