Create a plane throw 3 points?

Why is it not possible to create a plane through 3 points? See image…

Because you did not select 3 Point plane in the drop down menu; the default selection is an Offset plane (to another existing plane).
If you select 3 points first, then open the plane feature, it will automatically try to set the right plane type.
If you open the feature first, then you'll have to manually select the plane type from the drop down. then it'll accept your input
