Mate offset orientation, very confusing to me

Hi there,
How is the direction (negative/positive) working when offseting something? To me it feels completely random. In the image below, how come a positive offset of 200 mm in the Y-direction is translated downwards when both local and "global" coordinate system is the opposite?

There are two mate connectors involved in the mate. The orientation of the mate can easily be flipped as well. The positive Y has to do with one of the mate connectors. I can honestly almost never predict which sign is going to be what I want, but I’ve gotten used to just editing until I get the desired result. I’m sure if I analyze it, it does actually make sense.

Yes I know there are two mate connectors. I checked that as well, still doesn't make sense. Same part being offset which means the parts coordinate system is oriented the same way as shown in the screenshot above.
