Extrude overshooting adjacent surface

I have a sloped front face on a part and when I extrude it it's overshooting the bottom face. How can I clip it to the bottom face. I've exaggerated the depth in this screenshot to illustrate the problem.

Delete face is really powerful.
Thanks @Matt_Shields I'll give that a shot
Sadly it won't let me because of this little leg sticking out. I think I need to adjust that side face first. Stay tuned.
