Is there a way to change your perspective to a plane or face?

Saur0nSaur0n Member Posts: 4

I had a need for a viewpoint using a plane to get the angle for a sketch and couldnt find a way to, while it was possible to proceed from a different angle, it would have been helpful to use a plane as a refrence point for a new perspective or something.

You can use a plane for a sketch and a view angle. Even if you aren't using the plane in question as the "sketch plane" you can still use it as a view plane. The default shortcut for "normal to" is "n" and it will bring you normal to the sketch plane (if in a sketch) or to a selected plane/planar surface. So if I'm understanding the question correctly, just click the target viewpoint plane, hit "n" (or remap it to something else), and it will orient you to that frame of reference.

I'm guessing you needed something like a 'Point Normal Plane' - https://cad.onshape.com/help/Content/cplane.htm#PointNormalD
