Handed Assemblies. How to make mirror flexible?

I know there's many ways to accomplish this goal. I'm new to Onshape and I'm wondering if there's Onshape way to do this?
Basically I'm making a handed assembly. The left side is the driving assembly and when I mirror the right side I would like the position not to be a fixed position… But if the mirror could be mated with a slider it would make the assembly more flexible for downstream custom widths avoiding using making a unique document, variables and another assembly.
Hope this makes sense. See demo video
I will gladly share document with individuals. I just need your onshape name for the share settings.

Have you tried to make the assembly mirror in a separate assembly, then just place the two sides into the drawer assembly and fix at the appropriate locations?
