Compression thread with nut

I am trying to make a compression locking nut. I want to place a pipe in a threaded cylinder and then use a nut to tighten down around the pipe.
I can get the nut to screw onto the thread,
but it doesn't tighten down on the pipe.
Can someone help with the design?
Please see the pictures attached for a better explanation.

Don't you need a pair of tapers to squeeze the slit sections against the outer pipe wall?
I'd imagine that simply scaling down the green nut by a small percentage would get you what you need. But that would also change the dimensions of the thread. So maybe reducing its hole size before the thread is created.
