Lofting between circle extrude and square extrude.

Hello. I have gone through most of the training including surfacing and I just can't figure this out. I want to loft between a square extrude with a hole and a circle extrude with a hole. I tried split a circle sketch into 4 sections so their vertexes could match up. Doesn't work. Not sure if I am even using the right technique. Any help would be appreciated. Surfacing is hard.

Probably that you're lofting between two profiles with inner loops - we disallow that. You'd need to do one big loft with no hole and then subtract the hole-to-hole loft.
You'll have to loft the outside surface and the inside surface separately. Selecting the line/curves not the face created by sketch.
Also, combine the edges of the square into a composite curve, such that you have a single selection start and end.
Create the extra segments to control the loft or as shown below loft one side the Mirror to eliminate twist (is that make sense.)
Thank you both for your responses.
Aside from the obvious problem of the number of regions between profiles being mismatched, if the common solution to this kind of nested profile loft is to do two lofts separately and boolean the results, is that not something that could be baked into the loft feature?

Found an old one and bumped it. 10 year anniversary on the request it looks like, but I see people ask about this kind of thing all the time both on the forums and the discord so it's weird there isn't more traffic for this request.
