How do you mate a sphere in a conical cavity?

Assembly consists of 1 conical cavity and 1 ball.
How do you mate them so that the ball is tangent inside the conical cavity?

Cylindrical using the mate connectors along the axis of the cone (mate connector on the top of the sphere, mate connector on the top face of the cylinder), then tangent (but had to flip the tangency using the arrow bottom left of the tangency dialog).Senior Director, Technical Services, EMEA6

Got a work-around:
ball:create a mate connector on sphere centre
seat: sketch circle of ball diameter tangent to cone-create mate connector on that circle centre
mate the 2 connectors by fastener.
however, this method only works for 1 ball diameter, not for any size.0 -
I was able to get a ball to sit down in a cone by combining a tangent mate and slider mate, and the ball stays in place if its diameter changes.0

Here is the hydrostatic bearing. I used connector mates to assemble both sphere and cup to the conical seat.
If anybody can find another way using different types of mates, I'd like to know.

Thanks. Still requires to create the extra mate connector on the sphere ( I guess we cannot avoid this), but better.0 -
Shouldn't need to, you could use the mate connector from the origin of the sphere or if you hover over the sphere one should appear.Senior Director, Technical Services, EMEA0
