How to combine parts

Hello, apologies if this is a dumb question but as a newbie trying to get my head around Oneshape.
I have a simple extruded rectangle in parts studio 1. In parts studio 2 I have an extruded square. What is the correct procedure to "bring these parts together" as one ? I want to put the rectangle of PS1 on top of the square in PS2. Im thinking I should create an assembly but I thought assemblies were only intended when you wish to use physics etc. Thanks for reading.

To bring a part from one part studio into another you can use the "Derived" feature:

Really though, you should just create both blocks in the same part studio rather than using two separate studios.
