Why isn't thpart color white (RGB: 255,255,255) white (same as the pure white workspace background)?

It appears the "whitest" part color OS will display is ~ RGB:230,230,230, a light grey.

RGB values greater than 230,230,230 can be assigned to the part but it renders at ~230,230,230.

Did some experimentation.... it is white (same as workspace background) when a white part surface is normal to the shading spot light source. The light source appears to be positioned above the viewer's right shoulder.

It would be nice to have some control over the light source(s) used for shaded rendering. The default is a little too "spot lighty" for my taste; I would like to be able to make the light more defuse to produce less pronounced shade gradations.

You are right, it is not white, or the same as the background.

We would like to be able to have RGB: 255, 255, 255 as well. Perhaps it will not render well with the white background. Onshape can't change the background color because they are trying to maintain a clean and simple user interface/presentation, which does look nice, but we would still like the color white not grey.
