Trying to make the slot larger

The slot will not be dimensioned. I've tried. I need a bigger radius and a larger slot and it's not working. I am just getting red errors. I click on slot and double clicked on the dimension tool.

    1) created a line 2) clicked on slot and the slot appeared 3) I double clicked the dimension tool and the slot disappeared.

    Once you click the line to create the slot, you have to press enter to confirm the diameter of the slot.

    If you skip that step, the slot will disappear.
