Is there a way to remove unwanted portions of an object?

Hi! I was wondering if there was a way to remove the selected areas? I'm trying to trim the object but the remove extrude function isn't working. (see pics)

There are a multiple ways to do this: Extrude, loft, move face, sweep.

Here is one method:

Create a sketch on a perpendicular plane to the original sketch.
Extrude remove that sketch from the original part.

Sometimes custom features can be faster depending on your application.

Here is a feature I made for models like this, Intersect Views. You can add it to your tool bar.

The way @deianwijangco has it sketched, you could use a loft-remove between the sketch face and the selected face
