Here's another idea from the Onshape/PTC Academic Team! Happy Monday!

Curriculum Idea: UAVs come in all shapes and sizes. Let students create conceptual designs of UAVs anticipating number of motors, purpose of the UAV, size, materials, etc.

Topic area: Aerospace design

Description: Challenge students to create conceptual designs of UAVs for a variety of purposes. Have them determine use, size, number of motors, materials, etc. Then have a “virtual” fly off by having them animate their assemblies. You can also talk about the limitations of animating motion in assemblies and ways around it.

Learning Objectives: After completing this project, students should be able to:

  1. Create conceptual designs
  2. Describe the types and purposes of UAVs
  3. Create animations of assemblies

Models: Link to UAV model
