DXF plasma table help

I don’t know if this is an onshape question or more general cad/cam. My school has a cnc plasma table that I am trying to design some signs for. Essentially I need all the lines in my dxf to show up as one outline for the plasma table. So if I select one segment, the whole outline gets selected. I know I got this working in onshape before, I just forget how I did it. I’ve already tried extruding the sketch and exporting the face, as well as trying some other cad software.

It sounds like your sketch is not "closed". In order to extrude a solid part from a sketch, all of the vertices of your line segments must be connected; there can be no gaps when you zoom in to a corner.

You don't have to select each segment, after you made the sketch just extrude the shape, so you can see how your design look's, that's what CAD is about.
First design then look at the design and if it's OK then you go to CAM.
After extrude the sketch right click on the planar face and select export DXF, then you have everything you need for a Plasma or a Cutter.
