CENTER LINES BEING ADDED TO RELEASED DRAWINGS

I'm finding it to be a major oversight that since the addition of automatic centerlines, released drawings that previously did not have center lines now suddenly have them. Isn't something that is release supposed to stay exactly as is until revised? Isn't that the point of a release management system? Is anyone else seeing this and bothered by it? Is there some way I can stop this from happening?
