How can I create surfaces like this?

Hello dear community,

I am still relatively new to the topic of CAD & Onshape.

In the meantime I am relatively confident in designing bodies and the next step for me would be to design such vases (as attached in the picture) to give them as Christmas gifts.

Now I don't really understand how to create such beautiful surfaces and I can't find any videos or tutorials.

Can someone help me, or knows good tutorials?

There might be a slicker way to do it, but here is what I did:

extrude top cylinder
extrude bottom cylinder
create notches in each cylinder
circular pattern
loft between cylinders
shell

I actually made a custom feature called Shapes at one point for this kind of thing. This was especially helpful before you could drive a sketch pattern with a variable. Using that feature and some layer-caked Extrudes I was able to speedrun it in under 30 seconds, though the scale and proportions aren't considered. Check it out!

okay i understand the steps. but who do i extrude top and bottom in step 1, so they are one part?
