How to mate a cross beam to slide loose / loosely in a cross slot
I'm trying to figure out how to mate a cross beam (a long beam with a cross section of a cross, plus sign, etc...) so it accurately slides in a slightly larger cross cut in a plate. The goal is something that can move up and down, tilt slightly to the left, right, forward and back, but not rotate (although in reality it…

Is there an easier way to mate this shelf assembly?
I have just modelled a shelf assembly in sheet metal, everything went well apart from mating the legs to the shelf. If someone could look at the attached model and tell me of an easier way to do this I would be grateful. Regards, Derek…

Can't get pin to follow slot correctly at all
Hey everyone, I've been working on a project where an inside chamber with a pin follows a slot on an outside chamber such that when you twist the inside chamber, it follows the path on the outside chamber and achieves linear motion. However, I haven't been able to get this to animate properly at all. I've tried all sorts…

Advice on Assembly Structure or Methodology for Populating Instances in Large Quantities
I am wondering if anyone has advice for a methodology of populating fasteners or other high quantity instances in high level assemblies without greatly slowing the performance of the assembly. Once I have replicated hundreds of screws, washers, and t nuts in my top level assembly, adding new mates becomes very slow. I like…

Assemblies - Using different connection types on a single mate.
In my assembly, I have an arm that I want to push the door open with. I need the end of the arm to basically be a ball joint + planer joint to simulate the arm moving however it wants to on the door. I can get one or the other, but not both types to work at the same time. Any suggestions? Assembly 1:…

Checking concentricity between holes
Hi All, I have an assembly and where the parts are connected with bolts. How Can I check That all of the holes are concentric? How Can I know If I moved a hole that it is out of alighment. Currently I am using the "fastened" mate and It affects only one hole. Thanks! Gil,

How to import mates in an assembly?
I'm trying to import an Onshape project into a different one but when I import it, the mates in the original assembly are not in the imported assembly. Is there a way to import the whole assembly, mates included?

Project to Surface
I've used the search function in the hope of finding an answer, but without any luck. So, can I project a 2-D sketch onto an underlying (curved) surface to provide a 3-D 'path'? I'm trying to project sketch 5 in this open document onto the curved surface of Part 1 (…

Mate Matching Surfaces
I would like to mate these two parts so that the surfaces are touching eachother (The parts will be welded). They both have the same radius and should fit together perfectly. Is there an easy way to do that? Or do I have to use the fastened mate? Tangential doesnt work, but I'm unsure if I understand how the function works.

Moving multi-jointed/multiply-mated assemblies (inverse kinematics in OnShape?)
Is there a detailed description somewhere of how OnShape handles part movement in multi-joint chained assemblies? Specifically wondering about why it seems like sometimes moving a part at the end of a chain appears to work as expected (ie pretty much how it would in the physical world, presumably using inverse kinematics…
