revolute mate / tangent mate interactions
Hello everyone, I am trying to simulate a pretty basic engine mechanic, but I got met with this: If someone knows why the mate reacts in such a way, it would be helpful. 🙏 I wish to use the "Revolute mate" so I can use the "Animate" to simulate it's movement.

Why does this assembly fail when I add one more revolute mate?
This is a robot arm design I created based on a reference design I found online. However, when I try to connect any two of these blue-colored parts using revolute mates, one of the joints (circled in orange) fails to work properly. They move in a different way, losing the revolute mate-connecting the joint… Does anyone…

Help with revolute and slider mate
Hello all. I am pretty new to CAD and am designing a engine driven pump on a platform that will raise up and down as needed. I have a revoute mate for the driveshaft and a slider mate for the elevator guides. However, when I animate the revolute mate the platform jumps up and down along the slide mate. Can anyone advise me…

Mates - How to prevent the last link from moving relative to the previous one?
Hi everyone, I've created a manipulator model in Onshape using revolute mates (from left: column- fixed, link1, link2, link3 - all revolute). I want to make sure that the last link (link3) does not move relative to the previous one (link2) when I move the first link (link1) . How can I achieve this? Before moving first…

Revolute mates with sub assembly
Hi, I hope I'm using the correct terminology; apologies if I'm not. I created an assembly of a leg with a bearing tube for a piece of scissor lifting equipment. The leg attaches to a lifting bed and requires to have some freedom of rotational movement but attached to the pivot point on the bed. However when I use a…

help with rams / hydraulic cylinders
i am trying to develop a lift in work. i have drawn a plate that rotates on hinges, also added in a ram in assembly mode. just to test positions of where the ram may be mounted. used a revolute mate for the plate/frame. that moves as id like used a sliding mate for the ram that moves in and out But positioning revolute…

Moving multi-jointed/multiply-mated assemblies (inverse kinematics in OnShape?)
Is there a detailed description somewhere of how OnShape handles part movement in multi-joint chained assemblies? Specifically wondering about why it seems like sometimes moving a part at the end of a chain appears to work as expected (ie pretty much how it would in the physical world, presumably using inverse kinematics…

Why can't I create a mate connector in between these entities?
I want to put a mate connector in between these entities in order to make a revolute mate with the center of the cylindrical axle. I was previously using a slider mate in conjunction with a planar mate (mate connector between the angled bar), but the rack and pinion relation doesn't allow me to select slider mates (despite…

Connecting rotation of a shaft to a gear.
Hello,I'm near the end of a project to make a gear assembly but having the following problem. I've created a shaft which rotates perfectly withe the revolute mate. I can add the 15 tooth gear so that the spline and shaft mesh but the gear will not rotate. If I add a revolute mate to the gear instead, it will rotate but not…

Centering a Revolute Mate on a Squarish Hole
I am an old dog trying to learn new tricks! How can I center a Revolute Mate on a squarish hole? This is a Vex robotics channel. Even the axle is square too but I haven't gotten to that yet. Need to build 4 bar, 6 bar, scissor lifts. This is for middle school kids who are building robots, if it's too hard the kids are not…

How to connect parts using revolute mate without breaking other connections
Hi, here is my example:https://cad.onshape.com/documents/dec9d680c0738fb31d7de0c5/w/b7fcbb8cfcbce7d329a47010/e/c4a2c8fe27ffbc076e1d0accI would like to know how to connect Part 1<10> with Part 1<13> using revolute mate without breaking existing connections
