Re: Improvements to Onshape - September 8th, 2017
@ChuckKey - the fillet on the left is of course correct. Do you just want the one on the right for aesthetic purposes? If you are machining that makes it more difficult, but fine if you are just 3d printing. Here is the solution - to get extra vertices, split the surrounding faces as per the part on the left. The part on… -
Re: What's the best way to create a frame on a thin solid?

Walk through the features from "main shape" with the other parts hidden like the link will show up as. Note if the magnet ledge width gets bigger,… -
Unable to flatten filled & thickened surface made entirely of splines
I'm trying to create a cup-/dome-like shape using splines, but it's resulting in this weird wobbly/uneven-ness to the bottom surface. I'm using a Fill followed by Thicken to create a non-zero-width wall for 3D printing. The Fill produces an error unless I switch it to Sampled, but that rendering looks completely fine,… -

Re: Fillet in active sheet metal
I wish that the fillet tool would remember this setting for a short period of time, perhaps only if you create another fillet right after the previous. It's definitely caught me off guard a few times the way it is now, but there are times when I'm creating several width fillets in a row and like it to remember that. There… -
Re: Named Surfaces
Hey there - this thread seemed like the closest 'match' to the issue I'm having. If anyone can share some light on what I'm doing incorrectly, I'd appreciate it! I'm working on a FS that sets up a number of planes (as well as moves some solid bodies around) to act as trimming geometry further down the model tree. The… -
Re: How to split with a "stitch" so that design is within print volume
Thanks for those links, I could only find some laser joint scripts. Agree about the generic approach, IDK how to even do it manually yet  I wonder if I can detect the "base/bottom" and the "walls/uprights" of the model as these need to be treated differently, at least when a steep angle is involved. I figure the… -
Configured Properties grows exponentially
Hi everyone, I like the Configurations & Configured Properties features of OnShape, and I'm using it quite extensively.I remember reading about Configurations being a very plus in OnShape when compared with other CAD systems, because it means we could have checkboxes, list inputs & variables configured independently and we… -
Re: CNC Corner Joint custom feature (update of Board Corner Joint feature)
I just updated the custom feature to version 1.2. I added the option to specify multiple tenon and mortise parts. Joints (of the specified type and using the same parameters) will be created between each pair of a tenon and mortise part. This requires each tenon part to intersect each mortise part at a 90 degree angle.… -
Re: Looking for general best practice suggestions as I improve my skills
I'm looking at your model now and a few things you did really well, that a lot of beginners don't do. You modeled on the origin. This allows you to use the 3 default planes for symmetry purposes later, saving you time. On your first sketch, you dimensioned what was important for the design. In your case, the inside of the…
