Re: ThreadLab - Internal/External Modeled/Cosmetic Threads with External Thread Callouts

@antlu65 Thanks again for making this feature available. I finally got around to playing with it and it's awesome. No pressure to implement any of this if it doesn't make sense to you, but I do have a few thoughts that are mostly centered around my personal use-case for this feature which is 3D printing: * If I select… -
Re: Offsetting complex, closed shapes made up of arcs.

I had a similar issue this morning. The sketch offset was happy when when creating it. I was even able to use the drag arrows to get exactly the offset required. At this stage all the geometry was in the correct place and shown in black. As soon as the feature was committed though it blew up red and failed. As a workaround… -
Re: Belt Feature Studio - using two same size cylinders - generates an intersecting path
Hi Charles, I cannot work out why the belt is failing. I tried editing your sketches to tidy them up, making the assumption that the feature prerequisites were not met (cylinders with parallel axes) but that did not help, so I have forwarded it on to the original developer. For a workaround, I created a sketch on Plane2… -
Cannot Boolean Union three parts

I have three parts which I can't seem to be able to union. Two of these (Finger 5a and Finger 5b) do not intersect, and I have created a third (an extrude of a face of Finger 5a) in order to fill in the gap. Any pair from these three can be joined. But the three of them? "Failed to return a valid part" I don't get why the… -
Re: Limit UP_TO_NEXT to the merge scope?
Hi Neil, I made a 1-minute video showing what I'm going for and what I'm stuck on here. Are videos like this preferable to me trying to write it out? I considered copying/booleaning bodies, but, aside from being expensive, if the user has already added part clearances, they wouldn't boolean anyway. I guess I could just add… -
Re: Looking for general best practice suggestions as I improve my skills
Hey Matt - Funny, I was thinking about some training video I did in OnShape that showed shell and I totally forgot about it. Every time I double extrude like that I question it. As I watch my prints fail, curling up at the corners I like your idea of thinning it out.. it's perfectly strong at this point although I still… -
Soooo frustrated :( What seems like a simple task makes no sense, and directions/videos aren't clear
I'm getting extremely extremely frustrated with Onshape. I'm coming from CAD where I mainly did 2d but some 3d as well. My drawings are all mechanical, and I cannot wrap my head around how Onshape is expected to work. It's so frustrating! Yes I can make some stuff, simple boxes stuff like that, but complex shapes are so… -
Modifying an STL in OneShape

Hello, I am new to CAD software and I am following a YouTube tutorial for 3d printing. >I have imported the STL in a part studio >Created a 3 points plane matching one of my model's faces >Created a fully constrained rectangle on set plane >Trying to Extrude -> Add -> Blind the rectangle through the STL model (I am trying… -
Re: Tenon Joint FeatureScript help
Looks like you resolved that error; the current error is "Precondition of evOwnerSketchPlane failed (arg.entity is Query)" which is telling you that the argument you're passing is not a Query (you can't pass a sketch to evOwnerSketchPlane, line 48). Since it's a sketch you created, you don't need to evaluate… -
Re: Documentation for opCreateOutline
Hmmmm, there's not a whole lot going on there: /** * @internal * Generates surfaces representing the outlines of parts or surfaces projected onto a surface * @param id : @autocomplete `id + "createOutline1"` * @param definition {{ * @field tools {Query} : The tool parts or surfaces * @field target {Query} : The face whose…
