Cross Sections Perpendicular to the X Axis
I am working on a project in calculus right now where I have to create a graph of a shape and then turn it into a three dimensional shape by making cross sections of squares parallel to the x axis. I can't just extrude to a certain depth, because the depth is equal to the width of the shape at that point. How do you do… -
How to put a constraint on an extrusion ?
Hi, I'm new to OnShape and struggle a little with parmeters. I manage to set constraints in a sketch like it's done in this tutorial. Then I want to extrude it and be able to set the depth of the extrusion as a constraint. How do you do that ? Example : I create a rectangle in a new sketch. I put constraints on width and… -
Laserkiste – a parametric finger joint box for laser cutting (stackable!)
Hi Everyone, based on those countless designs of simple boxes with finger joints I made my own. Why? Because I wanted a stackable version that scales as I need it. And sometimes you want to make adjustments that are quicker in Onshape than in a vector graphics tool. The Onshape Document is called Laserkiste (German for… -
Re: Problems when using a pattern for sketches
Thank you for your answer. I made a simple example because I thought I lacked explanation. https://cad.onshape.com/documents/0792e11289ab5f3465a1a908/w/250f524c9f3177bd4a0baae2/e/0bfff230092e40a47b1bb09b I'm using "Beam" features to create structures that can be configured and changed; for example, by entering the width,… -

Window Layout options
Is there anyway of using different window layouts? I've just invested in an ultra-wide monitor and it is great, however it would be much better if I could move all the menus, project tree and search box etc to one side giving me the full width and height of a normal monitor for editing. Is this possible, doesn't sound like… -
Re: Need help patterning holes
Mahir, That's a great help! I will definitely be looking into the documentation to understand more of the changes you made. That's awesome for 1 by 1's. But I'm really looking for a solution for any width/height. I'm sure I can figure it out with enough messing around, but if you have a good understanding of this type of… -

Re: How do you create a flat pattern of a helical screw flight
Helix is also non developable but I would did what @john_mcclary showed, assuming helical bounds transform into concentric circles of the corresponding length and linear edges transform into radial lines on the flat. It should work well untill the width of the helix is significantly smaller then the length.
