Re: Liebeck and Benzing profiles
Here's how I would approach it: 1. Get profile from http://airfoiltools.com/airfoil/details?airfoil=l1003-il 2. Clean up the data with this Processing script: void setup() { String[] file = loadStrings("input.txt"); for (int i = 0; i < file.length; i++) { file[i] = trim(file[i]); // remove trailing whitespace file[i] =… -
Re: Improvements to Onshape - March 2nd, 2017
Some time ago, I published a long wishlist for OS improvements. Gradually my list became very short> :) OS is now my go to CAD platform, however I still use HSMWorks within SW for creating CAM G Code and SW's Weldments capability. Onshape Observations 06Mar17 Improvements 02Mar17 I have been patiently waiting for one of my… -
Re: In "Onshape" speak, what is the definition of "workspace", and what is "main" all about?
I have studied your initial response, read the Data Management section in On-line Help and read the referenced Blog post. I think I have a much better understanding of how Onspace does data management to facilitate collaborative concurrent design. It is radically, different that anything that have used in other CAD… -
Re: Migration of vaults
@kevin_quigley @3dcad Yes, drawings are the bugger. And yes, as you may know from my other postings here I wish we were beyond 2D as the only conventional means of information sharing in our manufacturing culture. Long term I think that is part of the answer. I would want a work flow for older drawings and models to go… -
Onshape for Industrial Design?
I appologize in advance for the length of this post! But I believe there is probably a certain audience that is considering using Onshape that would be interested in this. I’m a professional Furniture Designer / Lighting Designer (trained as an Industrial Designer)Not only do I create concepts for products (quick model… -
Re: Reliable workflow for using configurations?
What I do is: I have a template for spiral chutes. Inside this document there is every part modeled, assembled, detailed. I have a drawing package for each sub assembly. So if the customer wants a swoop chute on the exit rather than a straight chute I just move the folder out of the 'unused' folder and put the standard… -
Re: Modify inserted assembly
@michael_marriam I have two ideas to accomplish this. 1: Setup the default wall as parts in the same assembly that you were going to be putting in the sub assembly walls. Group mate the parts so you can move them around like an assembly. You can copy and paste them and a new group mate will automatically hold the pasted… -
Re: How to dimension a slot in a drawing?
You can meet all of those standards fairly easy, with the exception of slot callout (completely missing from Onshape today). The center-line tools are missing a "center of slot" one-click option. Currently this takes 4 clicks, which would be a bummer if you have many slots to dim. Yuck! 😂 If I were you, and found that… -
Re: Import file using Python - API
Hi, I have a related question which I really appreciate to get help. I'm trying to use the existing example (app.py) to import, say an .iges file, and export it as .stl but I can't figure out "element id (eid)" of imported .iges file in either of following methods. If I create a new document (as it has been done in app.py)… -
Re: Mate Connector tips
I ran Ben's video through handbrake to see if it works better: video Video on the internet is frustrating and I'll try to explain what's going on. I've been frustrated with this for many years. mp4 is a html5 video standard that should allow all devices & browsers to view a video on the web. Turns out the compression…
