Re: More robust lid design for bike aero storage box
Hi @TimRice! Thanks for your response – I hadn't even thought of integrating magnets! Perhaps those plus a lip to avoid sliding of the lid would work. Materials wise, I'll be sticking will PLA or ABS and my only other constraints are really the width of the box staying as it is and being able to get fingers inside to fish… -
Re: Planar surface DXF export misses features
Okay - if anyone else is trying to do this, here's a horrific hack. Export as DXF. Load into SolidWorks eDrawings. Print to PDF (yeah yeah I know). Import PDF into Inkscape. Reset line widths to 0, fix dimensions. Save from Inkscape as DXF R14. Laser cut parts while swearing at computers in general. You can see why I'd… -
Defining function variables - Function does not work in a certain case
I have defined the following variable (function) HalfWidth = function (len) { return len *.05 in; } If I provide a number such as 1, it works fine and I end up with a width of .5 I have another variable WallThickness defined as 0.167 in. If I provide this variable as a parameter to the HalfWidth function, I get an error… -
Variable thickness on a revolve / loft for a toroidal knot
Hi OnShape team & users, I could use your help determining how to introduce variable thickness to a revolve / loft in this document. The inside of the toroid (donut hole if you will) should be thinner than the outside. Said another way the lattice should be more delicate on the inside and thicker towards the outside. I'm… -
I'm having trouble entering values into text fields in Kiri:Moto. Anyone have experience?
I've only just started using the onshape and Kiri apps but I'm trying to set up for a trial run of motors via a TinyG driver. Under device menu (within kiri) I've selected Any.generic.TinyG. To the right, there's a list of fields that I think should be editable. Specifically, I cannot edit the dimensions 'bed width' 'bed… -
How to import a sketch into a feature script and then in a loop make copies of it along a path.
Hi there, I have a sketch in my document. It has 3 variables set thickness width the variables parameterize a cross section profile along a boat hull. I would like to create a feature script feature that imports the sketch and then in a loop makes copies of it. For example the below psuedocode. for(var i = 1 to 100){… -
"Mirror" Dimension?
Hello! I was wondering if there is a way to do a "mirror" dimension? I plan on mirroring this part about the Right plane. Even though in this sketch the object line and construction line are set "Equal" and the 170 would define the finished width of the part... I just wonder if there is a way to "pick the plane-pick the… -
Re: how to give parts separate files
as one that started off way wrong on this platform I certainly understand your problem.... I think....where as a top down design in other cad platforms is often the way to design I think that the band width issue with a cloud platform caused the why this platform works the way it is....not a software geek just supposition.… -
Re: Laser Joint Updated to V3.0: Pin Face Offset and Pin Chamfer!
@marcus_jonsson I can look into that; I think it should be pretty easy to add if the input parameters are the number of pins N and a desired pin width W, resulting in N pins of width W equally spaced along the joint. Edge offsets in this case would apply to the outer two, and should end up looking like the desired result… -
variable studio improvements
Is there a way to import into a variable studio (from a csv or similar)? It would also be nice if it was possible to create a table. I'm doing work where I am using different steppers and while I can create variables like: NEMA11_width NEMA11_bolt_spacing NEMA11_nose_dia NEMA11_bolt_dia and then similar for NEMA14, 17, 23,…
