Configuration of 1 table to multiple tables
I fear I've discovered a dilemma that will bite us down the road if there isn't a solution (which I fear may be the case). With configurations, you have the option to use one table, or more than one. If you use one table, it can quickly cascade into a lot of rows and columns. To condense it, you start with adding those… -
Repeating part at odd intervals along spline
I'm modeling a roller coaster and have a number of parts that I need to repeat some fifty times. Trouble is.. the pattern is not at regular intervals along a symmetrical path but at odd intervals along an arbitrary spline and at varying angles (tangent to the track). I haven't seen a feature in Onshape that allows me to do… -
Re: Dividing an edge in featurescript
Hi @stefan_nilsson. Is there a particular reason you want sketch points? This could also be done with opPoint(). Regardless, here is a workflow that could still be applied: * Create variable or constant storing an array with all of the parameter locations you would like. 0 is the start of the edge, 1 is the end. Think of… -
Configuration basics
I have lost my ability to create a configuration, and the documentation becomes very confusing. Here is my part studio. I created a variable, #spacing_distance, which can have various values. I have used those values as the configuration names. If I select a different configuration, I can see the position of the bottom pin… -
Re: Onshape has been acquired by PTC
My feelings on PTC: After seeing what PTC did to MathCAD I'm cautiously optimistic. In my opinion MathCAD went from an easy to use platform to something rather painful to use with features removed and bugs added in the 'Prime', improved version. I think the latest release actually added some of the removed features. I saw… -
Re: Long regen times for text extrudes
The method of dividing up your sketches preferred. Otherwise your sketch will get ever slower during modification of the sketch. Text is know to be slow. But 12 seconds seems excessive for the extrude. How many sketches are there? we see 52 just in this screen shot. you may conciser sub-dividing your part studios into… -
Creating a new Feature via API JSON Format (NodeJS)
Hello everybody, Don't know where else to post this question ,if there is a more appropriate location, please tell me =) I'm currently trying to wrap my head around this, but I just can't get it to work. I am using NodeJS, but this is more of a general question (i guess). I am trying to add a new feature to an existing… -
Re: User Group Meeting: Non-traditional Onshape use
@chadstoltzfus's wordle is pretty cool. Combine that with @ilya_baran's RNG. then if you want, you can hide the available answers in another document then import them. In this case I just have the array of answers on the top of featurescript. Now take the sketch RNG and move the dot to a random location. It will take that… -
Re: Part names = Part numbers ?
Thanks for the comments on this everyone, sorry had not replied sooner. Good to get an idea what others do with part names/numbers. @john_mcclary sounds great, are there any tutorials of this BOM copy and paste you would recommend? I'm still learning Really like the FS @emagdalenaC2i I like the idea of designing common… -
Re: Editing Logic Function Bug
Editing logic only runs when a user manually makes a change to a feature parameter. It is not triggered by external part studio changes or changes to configurations or input variables. This is by design since otherwise, editing logic functions would need to be run every time a feature is regenerated, which would add…
