Re: Splitting and deleting 3 overlapping lofts
This is the exact kind of thing I developed Better Than Boolean for. There are other ways to accomplish this, sure, but I like just selecting the regions I want to keep and throwing away the stuff that I don't.
Re: Improvements to Onshape - August 7th, 2025
Lots of quality improvements here. I appreciate each of these, particularly the Frame Library, Variable studio, and Render studio improvements.
Thanks Onshape Team! 🎉
Re: Improvements to Onshape - August 7th, 2025
Density seems to have defaulted to pounds per cubic inch, even for those of us that have set everything else to metric.
Is there any way to batch-update documents to use kilograms per cubic meter? We have the /api/documents/d/{}/{wvm}/{}/unitinfo to get the units, but nothing to update them.
Re: FeatureScript IDE (Secret menu) 😎
.
For those who don't care about coding but want another secret menu.
While in any studio, you can press CTRL + D to open the secret menu that shows statistics about your studio:

Hype! This is some really exciting stuff
Re: Improvements to Onshape - August 7th, 2025
Now to do my tri-weekly scheduled snooping through featurescript fragments and see if I can't brute force preview future functionality. I already see some things for query variables that I know @MichaelPascoe is gonna be interested in.
Re: Improvements to Onshape - August 7th, 2025
Lots of great quality of life improvements here - editing sketch patterns, config visibility power, reordering variables, etc..
One thing I will request again - PLEASE add the date that a revision was released to the columns in the list or structure view, and PLEASE make it so that the results can go recursively down a folder structure. As it is right now, these views are almost useless if we keep parts and assembly documents in folders within a project. I want to see an overview of released things for a project. We're manually collecting this information in a publication now. Not being able to sort by date seems so fundamental.

Re: New Feature: Speaker Pattern
I started but didn't yet finish a tool to use a sketch as a graph mapper. Definitely doable. This one remaps the numbers too so the min/max sizes stay the same and the graph controls how it transitions between them.
CNC engineer is asking for a layered DXF, I can't figure out how to produce that
I am producing a small run of these projects, bootstrapped with few resources. A cabinetmaker has agreed to CNC the project, but their engineer uses a combination of TurboCAD and a proprietary 2D only CAM software that came with their machine. I don't really have access to the engineer aside from brief calls on the phone so I can't take much of his time to develop a pipeline. What they want is a layered DXF or similar, where they can assign tools for each layer and presumably the depth of the cuts.
I have been trying to figure out some software or plugin for Onshape that will let me take one projection from my project and convert it into the layered DXF that they need. While i'm quite comfortable in OnShape by now I've been a little daunted trying to teach myself TurboCAD on their reccomendation. Does anyone have a suggestion of how I can get this pipeline set u
Re: FeatureScript IDE (Secret menu) 😎
The featurescript editor is built on "ACE".
Which is why theres a bunch of hidden keyboard shortcuts.
Like the fs editor support macros (ctrl-alt-e to start/stop and ctrl-shift-e to replay). Although not all shortcuts seem to be supported.
