I have a "named position" in an assembly model which I would like to display as a view on a drawing

You have 2 options - create your drawing and version it when done, so that it never changes, or use assembly configs to hold the position of the mate and make views of that. If you are wanting to superimpose 2 views in different positions over the top of each other then that is not possible (unless you use configs and manually position the views on top of each other).
