Way to Keep animation playing while out of menu?

Hello,
Just wondering if there is any way that I can keep a "paddle" animating while out of the "Animate Mate" menu -
When I press the X on the menu it does not keep animating and gets rid of the Start value and End value when going back into that menu.
Please help.
