I'm trying to use guides and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong....

Hi @caroline_read checking out your image I see you selected the the sketch 4 as your guidelines, you have to select them individually by clicking in each guiding line, also I noticed that one of the guiding lines is inside the circle you have in the top parallel plane, so when trying to use it as a guide it creates an error due to the loft geometry you're trying to create I believe it intersect itself., not sure what the final intended geometry is but below some images of the loft. You may need more guidelines based on the final intended geometry.

I guess you trying to create a loft feature. Could you mention what are the profiles and guide curves you are trying to select? If possible you can share your model to public. Will see the sketch.

yes. just made it public.  So the ellipse and the circle are the faces I want combined in some way and the two construction arcs are supposed to be the guides.  In the one photo I provided, yes I did attempt a loft.  I was wondering if a sweep might be better but that also didn't work.

The loft feature isn't really working the way I want it to. I'm not sure why. I tried doing what @Narayan_K
 did but I must have made a mistake some where.  Any ideas?
