Email Download Link is great but would be better as a Generate link address

I think the email download link is great but I wish it was just "generate link" with a copy, and paste to your own email, WhatsApp, etc.
I find I email myself, to generate the link which works really well, but I think this is a bit of a backward way to make it happen. I haven't found any other way to make this work but maybe someone can show me.
