Conical helix swap starting point

david_riedelldavid_riedell Member Posts: 23 ✭✭
Hi all,

I'm trying to create a helix around a cone with its starting point relative to the smaller end of the cone, but I can't seem to figure out a way to get onshape to do that. I want the helix to start from this position:

...but as you can see, since the start angle is 0 deg, the helix is actually being generated from here:

I've tried swapping which of the circles is larger between top and bottom and it doesn't seem to matter, onshape always picks the larger one to use as its starting point.

Any ideas?

You can measure the angle of the helix and transform-rotate it, or calculate the angle from helix turns - in your case for 0.5 turns it will always be 180 deg
