How would I go about emulating this effect?
I've looked into using the helix tool, but it doesn't play well with non-cylindrical bodies. If only I could wrap it around the contour of the part, but that doesn't seem to be a possibility.

Create a helical lid for a bolt sorter
One of my pupils is struggling to create a lid for a screw sorter he's trying to design. I have been trying to help but have come unstuck in how to design it in OnShape. He's trying to make a circular version of the product on this link. Unfortunately, when he's created the helix top profile, neither of us can work out how…

How to form a Helix along a 3D curve
I have a bent tube of the same diameter that has turns. I'd like to create a helix that follows the center line of the tube. I can't figure out either to create a curve/spline from the center point of the tube and/or create a Helix that follows the center line or follows the tube.

How do I make this geometry work?
So, I've been trying to make a realistic ionian column and the main feature of those is the volutes. They have some unusual geometry and I am stuck because Onshape refuses to make sweeps that intersect themselves. Does anyone have suggestions? see the volutes on the photo for reference

helical sweep problems
I'm trying to helical sweep a "house" shaped cross-section ( a rectangle on three sides, but an equilateral triangle for the "fourth" side) on the ID of a cylindrical surface. but the dialog box will not allow me to select the helix I've already created on the cylindrical surface. I'm trying to create an internal thread on…

Worm Gear or Spiral
Hello, I'm making a helix worm like in the picture. However, there is difficulty in determining the angle of inclination of the thread. Can anyone help me? https://cad.onshape.com/documents/536e9d0ebf53bab60fc1d592/w/965b95592ae2103469fab11b/e/b53e3112cdcc919a6e378bc7?renderMode=0&uiState=6785e0cd4059a663f08e1896

Custom features - 3d Points and Variable Pitch Helix
Original post: https://forum.onshape.com/discussion/25252/variable-pitch-helix-and-3d-point-fs-features-from-crusoe-technologies#latest Haven't received any feedback for our Custom features in 'General' category! So posting them to 'Featurescript' category and we are hoping to receive feedback from both regular Onshape…

a way to make an exponential curving helix
Hello, I am trying to creat a cam cut in a spherical surface. It works fine using the helix tool and sweep the shape. However I need the curve to have an variable angle where it increases exponential. I found a workaround to create a sketch with the curve as I want it and wrap that over the surface and cut it out. than use…

Is it possible to form a helix on a non straight cylinder?
Hi all, I am trying to make a hose with a 3d fit spline, so it curves in all 3 dimensions. Now I am trying to add a helix to the outside to create a sweep path for an external profile. The helix tool does not allow this, is there a way to make it work and how? UPDATE, I found 3d spiral feature script, works a treat.

Sweep not working correctly on screw? Using Edge of helix and Equilat Triangle
Guys spent a few hours so far trying to use the swep feature to create the threading on a screw. I follow tutorial step by step, and this still dosen't work anyhelp? here's what I've done: 1. Created the screw 2. Map the helix on the surface plane of the screw extrusion 3. Created an equilateral triangle and created a…

Start of sweep along helix
I have a rectangle in a sketch, and an helix to sweep along. When the helix has three rotations, it works as I expect: You can see the sketch, and that the part starts there and goes on following the helix. If I modify the helix to make four turns, the start position of the part is *above* the sketch: What is going on? How…

Fast way to configure a lot of parts?
The sub-assembly consists of a lot of parts. I'd like to make this and other sub-assemblies configurable with the variables that were being used to create the parts. As there is a high number of parts in this helix and multiple variables (5) I am looking for a different way than klicking on every part and selecting each of…
