Can we use Onshape to customize part of the tool for customized objects with minor modifications ?

We use now a Rhino plug-in and want to move to Cloud CAD tool. We always design same object type with modifications acccording to patients data. Could Onshape support it?

You will have to give detailed information on what inputs and outputs you need, and examples of typical modification types, to get any sort of helpful answer.

Starting point is an insole geometry that we modify (customize) for every single patient according to specific features/data, making additions, adding an specific material in specific zones, etc.
Our input data is a scanned foot and a podyatrist prescription. Then we add our knowledge to prescribe, design and manufacture (CNC milling or 3d Printed) an insole for every single patient, which means an specific design every time. Some of our customers are podiatrist who like to start design process  and then we double check, eventually modify and finally manufacture.

These are two examples of typical insoles which need to be modified according to patients scanned data plus prescription.

I'm not the best on this type of products but for the question "We always design same object type with modifications acccording to patients data. Could Onshape support it?"
I would answer that we don't have parametric dimensioning yet, but should be on the works. I'm not sure if it's possible to build your model completely with parameters, but surely they will be usefull.

I think you would need to persuade a third party to partner up with Onshape to provide some sort of add-on, particularly if you need something which podiatrists can use unaided. If the Rhino plug-in already does the job you need, it might be tough to get someone interested in reinventing it for Onshape.

As @3dcad says, the basic package is currently a long way short of providing the necessary feature set.

Thanks for your comments. We plan to undertake the development inside the company to get the opportunity to make it available to our clients, podiatrists. We did the pug-in for Rhino ourselves and it is parametric now with complete control of the geometry. The main need is to transport same functionalities to the cloud to facilitate use of the system to our clients, podiatrists.

Currently Onshape does not give you the same low level control over NURB surfaces as Rhino. The only "Free Form" modeling functionality is Loft. Please test it to see if you are able to build the shapes you need. What is the format of scanned data you are getting? Onshape currently does not support import of point clouds or polygonal mesh.

Does Onshape have (or might be working on) a developer's API package?
