Machining a Assembly

PAHPAH Member Posts: 18 EDU
Lets say you are making a device. It has multiple parts that need to be manufactured and assembled. Then you need to machine a groove through the assembly. How do you make such a drawing? I get making parts in the studio and creating an assembly. What I do not know how to do is modify the assembly. Basically, I like to take the assembly and add sketches and extrusions to the assembly and then create a new drawing of the modified assembly. How do you do this?

You can't modify the assembly directly. But you can create a configuration for machined and stock. Then make the same configuration in the part studio. Now make your groove.

Reference the stock config in the drawing for the welder's print. And reference the machined config for the machinist's print and the main assembly.
