Weird shape when creating the loft

ashley_tan366ashley_tan366 Member Posts: 3
Hi all,

I am teaching my students to use Onshape to create a 3D facemask. When I created my design, everything was really smooth and round. But my students seem to have issues using the loft tool. Their sketches are the same as mine, but when they use the loft tool, the whole design just changed into these weird shapes. Random lines just appeared on the design.
Here is an example, the orange highlighted line was not in the sketch, but it appeared when they use the loft tool.
Any ideas why this is happening?

Thanks!

You'll have to share the doc - looks like you are lofting from a smooth profile to a profile with a dog-leg in it which is where the edge is coming from?

I can't roll back to change things around, but just looking at the sketches, the "base sketch" and the "side view 2" sketches don't line up, so Onshape has to do something with the sharp corner in the base sketch, and it chooses to wrap it around like that.
