This seems impossible by the mass properties because it only takes into account the parts

You can either:- Use the Split feature to cut the part in half with a plane (or similar), or
- Create a sketch on a plane and use the Intersect entity to create a fully enclosed sketch face.

Both option will create a planar face that you can select and the area will be displayed in the bottom right corner.
