How to assemble this?

epeaceepeace Member Posts: 2
Hi there,

I'm fairly new to Onshape, but learning pretty fast. I am currently building out furniture designs I made in Sketchup, taking advantage of the many superior features of Onshape. The end goal is to send drawings, blueprint style, to a builder. So technically I could skip what I'm about to ask and not impact this goal in the least (I think). However, in the spirit of learning, I would like to solve this challenge I have come across and hopefully come out of it stronger in Onshape.

The challenge: to create a functional assembly of the sliding hinge in the first image. My initial thinking was to use a simple slider mate. But as designed, this failed. So I simplified the design (second image) to work on solving the issue. Which I was able to get the female part sliding on the male part, but not along the curvature (I get a floating part at some point). Has anyone here done this before that could point out what I'm missing?

Thanks!

The easiest way to do this would be to add a mate connector to the small part that represents the center of the arc of the large part - then use a revolute mate with limits.
