Add Exploded Views for Versions or Revisions

I would like to add an Exploded View to a released Revision of an Assembly, to add to a new Revision of a Drawing. Versions (if not using Release Management) would be handy, too, although it's not much work to reference a new Version in a drawing.

Currently, we have to do a new Release of an Assembly, even just to add an exploded view (or anything else that you might need to add for a drawing - Assembly sketches, perhaps). With the challenges with Release Management and Sub Assembly structures, this adds an enormous amount of unnecessary work when I just want to add an exploded view of an assembly revision to a new Drawing Revision.

Thanks!

    @romeograham This is not something we can do in the shorter term due to those both being in an immutable version state. This is something that is not being considered as ever modifiable. If you were able to bring up existing exploded views in a top level, would that address the issue?

    Hmm. Do you mean: use an exploded view from my current workspace in an older Version? yes!

    I asked for this because I was preparing some drawings of assemblies...that required an exploded view.

    The drawings can reference Revisions of the Assemblies (common workflow so I can release a new drawing without bumping up the Revision of the Assembly).

    However, I had forgotten to make an exploded view for one of the referenced Assemblies - now the only way to get an exploded view (no new parts, or functionality, or anything) is to release a new Revision of the drawing.

    @romeo I believe you can re-release releases now as of the last update or previous one. so you don't need to up revision for mistakes like that.

    @ryan_mcgoldrick That's a good point - I hadn't thought of that.

    However, it still requires some significant workflow steps:

    1. obsolete assembly
    2. edit assembly (add exploded view)
    3. re-release assembly

    Hopefully there would be no subassembly impacts (as long as the Revision of the assembly only referenced Revisions of parts).

    I'll try it and see if it's as bad as I make it out to be.
