Gimbal mechanism : unexpected over constraint

ikalogicikalogic Member Posts: 2 PRO
Hello,

I'm trying to simulate the extremes positions of a gimbal mechanism to see if there will be collisions.

https://cad.onshape.com/documents/7c14ae976ab0d225b28cc5ca/v/aadf75d2b6b9f0441c06f56a/e/ea94ca61ca2219ffc5dd7f4a

Both pitch and roll axis are limited to [-25°;+25°].

The problem is that Onshape won't let me rotate both axis at the same time, for example at a 25° position on both pitch and roll axis.

I have checked all the usual suspects (bad right angles between assembly axis, misalignements, ...) but I couldn't find anything suspicious.

What's wrong in my assembly?

Thanks,
Victor

I think onshape is trying to tell you something.

Seems like these 2 assemblies need to be attached:

Actually, Onshape is right, this assembly is over constrained. I have to modify the cinematics.
