Extrude Fill

If I select the fill in 3d, then extrude, then it works to extrude the fill

, but if I first select extrude, then select the fill from the features list, then it doesn't work. Why?;)

    The difference is that a sketch is guaranteed to be planar.

    I was thinking it could do that, since I can select a sketch feature;)
