Revolute mate limits don't work when a part is fixed.

erwin_1erwin_1 Member Posts: 15 ✭✭
On a project I was doing I made some revolute mates with limits (Doors in a cabinet).
When trying out with the animation button everything seemed OK. Only when I tried the finished revolute it wouldn't budge!
With the slider mate (drawers in the cabinet) there is no problem.
Started experimenting with a test document ( Test revolute limit  Main ) and found that as soon as I fix one part the revolute won't work. Deselect the limit checkbox and the revolute works, select it and it won't work.

I usually fix some base part in an assembly and off-course I had done that with a part in the original document...

Any ideas? Bug?

    Hi,

The first mate connector must be the one of the fixed part.

    Hope it'll help

Doesn't seem to solve it. I tried fixing alternatively both parts and the problem stays.

Hmm ... I copied your model, unfixed Part 2, Fixed Part 1, and the limit mate allowed me to drag Part 2 around in a 90 degree arc using the left mouse button.

In other words, it seems to work as intended.

@erwin_1 , I also copied your model, unfixed Part 2, Fixed Part 1 as done by @andrew_troupand it allowed me to drag Part 2 around in a 90 degree arc when dragging is done by using the left mouse button. Only problem is that dragging with triad manipulator is not working when limit is applied as shown in below video.

Viru, that's it. I always did movements with the triad. Dragging without the triad works.
Strange, with the slider it works both with the triad and without.

    Thanks all!

You can move with triad also. For that you have to make triad manipulator concentric with mate connector.
