Beam Feature Script Trimming Custom Profiles

Kody_HabeckKody_Habeck Member Posts: 10
When trying to use the beam feature script I need to make a custom profile angle iron of 1x1x1/8 in. When it is inserted and tell the vertices to be butt joints it will not automatically trim one of the angle pieces to be "nested" to one another.  If I try and use a profile that is part of the script such as the ANSI L Equal Angle 2x2x1/8 in then it will automatically trim and nest the two pieces perfectly.  Is there a way to get it to do this with custom profiles since the standard profiles is so limited?

What I want to happen (this is with the 2x2x1/8 standard profile:

What it does with a custom profile angle iron:

You appear to be using someone's copy of the Beams FeatureScript rather than the official version (It's an easy mistake to make). I would recommend switching to the latest version of the official Beam FeatureScript and seeing if that helps your problem. Otherwise, it might just be due to the way profiles are handled internally, with the standard profiles having better joining since the intersection shape between two profiles is known.

I tried to do this, however Onshape will freeze up with the "loading ball" and I will eventually get an error message.

Make sure you’re using the official script from “featurescript samples”
