Creating Rock like surface

I want to take a flat face and make it textured like a rock. I am not aiming for super real but certainly undulations over the surface of differing heights and smoothed between them. 

How would I even start approaching this???

Using standard features, If it is a smooth stone, either use the Loft feature or Fill with guides. This may be easier with custom features.

Here is a great feature that you can use to manipulate surfaces: Sculpt Face by @maximilian_schommer

You could also play around with Texture if you want gravel or something with a pattern.


For a smooth stone here is one approach you could take:

• Sketch the shape with a closed spline
• Extrude the shape
• Sculpt the top surface with Sculpt Face
• Fillet the edges
