Setting up an Assembly flat / square to a plane for a drawing

In the learning phase here - I am creating a simple model, and the assembly is not lining up on a plane for the drawings to be generated 'Nicely'.. It is 2 simple pieces, but when assembled, it is a bunch of compound angles, that don't want to mate nice for a decent drawing.  Help !!

    Hi Patrick, assembling in Onshape will be done a little bit differently than you're used to in other systems. I'd implore you to check out our Intro to Assembly Design Learning Center course to show you how to properly mate things inside Onshape. If you'd like the two objects to be on the same "plane", because Onshape assemblies do not use planes, I'd suggest using either a fastened or parallel mate with limits and offsets set to have them be aligned as you intended.
