Extrude removing hole for set screw

Trying to create a pulley wheel with a set screw hole. Found a threaded hole in the public repository and am now trying to extrude the wheel and connect it with the threaded hole. When I extrude the wheel it intersects and fills in the threaded hole. How do I intersect the two and keep the threaded hole?

That looks great! But it's view only and I can't see the solution. Moving Extrude 1 up gives me an error for lack of merge scope. I figured it had something to do with the Merge.
