Accessing Faces Inside Objects

I was originally tring to create a loft between two parts, but I cant actually select the face that I wanted. I though I should be able to hide the faces that were getting in the way of the view to select the face. I don't know or can't find where that feature is.
Here is a quick look at what I am trying to do
The face I am trying to select is the bottom of the bump coming out from the wall.
