Cant project curve from drum/tube intersection

I have a tube and drum intersection. I will be laser cutting the tube, this cut need to be square to the tube. However I cant project the curved intersection between tube and drum onto a sketch. (I get check input error) Can anyone help?

I need the yellow face to be square to the red line, at the moment it is undercut like the blue line (exaggerated)

no it doesnt, my main issue is that I cant project the intersection curve onto a sketch with an error in the sketch

this GIF will take you up to just before you do an extrude that is set to remove everything of an extruded Sketch 2, from what looks like a pipe to me

Here's a couple of samples that might help. The first 2 make the object sheet metal that will produce a cut normal (square) to the contour.
The third one uses a process of subtracted surface thickens to produce a normal to surface cut around a tube.
