Flatten out in spring design

frank_ringfrank_ring Member Posts: 42 ✭✭
Hello,

I would like to design springs in onshape that flatten out at the end.
On the picture to see I achieve it only with an ugly kink.
Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
Thanks a lot!

@frank_ring, you might also try using a projected curve to transition from the helix to the flat coil.

I created one sketch, comprised of a single circular arc, to straighten the helix.  Then I created a second sketch, again comprised on a single circular arc, but oriented perpendicular to the axis of the helix.  Projecting these two curves creates a nice transition from helical coils to the flat coil at the spring.

Then create a third sketch to complete the partial flat coil.

Does that work for your application?

@frank_ring, try it now.  You should be able to view and/or copy that document now.
