use profile data in a parametric model

Hello,
Is it possible to use the profile data using the frame feature. (eg the overall height or width of a profile section, either form the standard library or custom profiles) in a parametric model?
I am building a frame (grid) using a repetition of the same profile elements, the spacing of the elements is taking in account the width of the profile used. I now would like to swap out the profile for another profile and have the spacing of the beams adjusted to the new width of the new profile. I've tried this using a measured parameter, but that doesn't allways work.
thanks in advance

It is possible to write a custom feature to get the frames profile data and turn it into variables.

Alternatively, you could insert the profile at the start of your document, use Composite selected then Aligned bounding box. Composite selection so that no matter which profile you select, the body for the composite part is always the same. Aligned bounding box to get the dimensions of the composite part. With this approach, you could change the frame to whatever you wanted and the profile dimensions would recalculate.
